Privacy Policy

Artefaks uses state-of-the-art technology to protect its artists’/sellers’ personal information from all unauthorized disclosure or use. Artefaks also subscribes to information management methods that optimize the privacy of its users. However, in spite of our best efforts, all security measures may become subject to unauthorized disclosure. Should such a situation occur, Artefaks is in no way responsible, unless it is the direct result of gross negligence on its part.

All personal information entrusted to Artefaks by its users and those registered for its electronic newsletter will never be traded, rented or sold to third parties. However, Artefaks reserves the right to use its list of members to promote its products and services and those of its partners. Rest assured that the privacy of your personal information is subject to the utmost rigour. As a result, Artefaks will never transmit its lists to its partners. Artefaks will remain the sole entity to have access to your personal information.

Information transmitted to Artefaks will primarily be used to:

  1. enable you to purchase your listing package and pay for it
  2. enable you to display your products for sale, sell them and receive payment
  3. enable you to acquire items (art products) on the site
  4. determine the applicable taxes on a purchase
  5. determine the shipping charges for the delivery of an item acquired
  6. send an item to the destination address
  7. receive Artefaks’ electronic newsletter (if registered)
  8. enable Artefaks to collect the applicable service charges on your sales, and
  9. continue to improve access and how the site works.

Artefaks reserves the right to contact a user or member about his/her account, his/her membership, changes in the terms and conditions, changes to this policy or any other subject with regard to relations between Artefaks and its users or members.

Artefaks may also carry out studies and statistical analyses on the use and typology of the users of the Artefaks.com site, the number of pages that visitors were exposed to, the number of clicks on advertising banners and may provide such information to its advertisers. These reports will never include sensitive information such as last names or first names, email addresses or any other information enabling them to trace visitors. We may also use the information gathered to inform you, as needed, of important changes to the site’s features, new services offered by Artefaks and special offers that may be of interest to you.

Occasionally, users and subscribers to the Artefaks electronic newsletter may be invited to reply to questions or surveys. This information is collected and used so that you can receive information that better targets the subjects and products that interest you.

Finally, you may access the personal information Artefaks gathers about you and make any corrections, request that it be updated or destroyed.

Notice on the privacy of information when making a transaction

When making a transaction, items are paid for via the secured online payment service, PayPal, and not on the Artefaks.com site. Banking or credit information associated with a user’s PayPal account will never be forwarded to Artefaks or to potential art purchasers. As a result, Artefaks cannot, under any circumstances, be held responsible for the unauthorized disclosure of information entrusted to PayPal.

Once a transaction is confirmed, the user-seller will have access to the user-buyer’s personal information (last name and first name, email address, etc.).

The user-seller is not authorized, without having received prior consent, to use this information for any purposes other than to complete the transaction. Therefore, the user-seller cannot use this information to compile electronic mailing lists or to solicit user-buyers in any manner whatsoever.
